Seminar Description
The literature and practices on the themes of coaching, counselling and mentoring have witnessed, and still are, a great deal of ambiguity and uncertainty. This has been mainly due to the confusion amongst the characteristics of each of the three functions; the course hence starts with a clarification of the underlying principles that govern those theories and practices through a demonstration of the backgrounds and applications in real-life management situations.

The participants will be exposed through case studies and exercises to the various pitfalls that may be encountered during their encounter of the three functions in their daily jobs. The course will further shed some light on related intricate issues such as leadership, communication, service level agreements, empowerment, impressions management, attitude formation and behaviour analysis. The course attendees will familiarize themselves with the roles and duties of the coach, mentor and counselor in the light of the available work climate and environment, the human resource management systems in practice, the cross-cultural forces and the expected or anticipated role-models.

The Seminar will review the components and structure of a coaching, mentoring or counselling session in terms of possible traps, types, needs, resources, and process. The course will additionally highlight the linkage between growth and the self-development on one hand and the overall manpower strategies on the other.

The attendees will gain the prerequisite competence in the art and science of giving and taking criticism, feedback analysis, various application styles and the concept of adopting and implementing a win-win approach.

The Seminar will address the need for creativity and a shift in paradigm towards fresh thinking modes to address the future challenges in management strategy. The course will finally address the various course themes in the context of the change and transformation processes, which have a bearing on the company’s agility to adapt, adjust, and respond to new challenges such as re-structuring, technology, global presence, conflict containment, transparency, and ethics.
