Mr. Bruce Smit, Pr Eng (UK) is an International Expert in Project Management with over 35 years of experience in Project Planning, Budgeting, Project Implementation, Cost Control, Resource Allocation, Contract Management, Operations Management, Project Engineering, Construction Safety, Risk Assessment and Quality Management.
 

 
 


During his career life, Mr. Smit has worked as a Planning Manager, Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, Construction Manager, Project Manager, Sr. Project Engineer, Technical Manager, Engineering Consultant, Quality Engineer, Planning Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and Process Auditor.

Mr. Smit worked for many international companies such as Naval Dockyard, Simon’s Town, Consol Wadeville, Johannesburg, Corganic Pty Ltd, Krugersdorp Engineering, Synertech, Rapid Allweiler Pumps & Engineering, Lebone Engineering, Technikon Witwatersrand and Starlink. He, as consultant, has assisted many other companies in specific projects, from short shutdowns to long projects.
 

Bruce’s qualification includes, BSc, BEng, Mechanical Industrial; Master of Industrial Administration; Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM-USA), Government Certificate of Competency- Mechanical.
 

He is currently the President of the Society for Quality and he is a Senior member of the Industrial Engineering Institution.


In October 1998, a Johannesburg Engineering Company, through Mr. Smit’s project for them, won a National Productivity Institute Award.


Mr Smit is a hands on project manager, with specific experience in Shutdowns and Turnaround projects. As Engineering Manager at Consol Glass, 10 day, around the clock, furnace shutdowns/rebuilds were a regular occurrence. Ship repair and maintenance projects that he managed were time critical to the Navy. These projects ranged from 2 days to 6 weeks in operational conditions, besides fitting in longer ship upgrade projects.
