Dr. Jamal Assad, PhD, MSc, BSc, is a Senior Petroleum Engineer, Geophysicist and Geoscientist with over 25 years of extensive experience in Reservoir & Well Stimulation, Artificial Lift, Well Completion, Well Testing, Workover, AVO Seismic Modelling, Advanced AVO Analysis, Geophysical Modelling, Pre-Stack & Post-Stack Seismic Inversion, Multi-Component Seismology, Reservoir Characterization, Seismic Interpretations (2D/3D), Seismic Anisotropy, Petroleum Seismology, AVO & Seismic Attributes. He is currently the Senior Professor in the Geophysical & Geological Department of the University of Phoenix, USA. Concurrently, he is the visiting Associate Professor of Petroleum Technology at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford as well as an Independent Petroleum Consultant to various multi-national companies such as Fugro, DeGolyer & MacNaughton, Halliburton Texas, Landmark Graphics Corporation, ATP Oil & Gas Company among others.
Prior to his career in the academe, Dr. Assad worked as a Senior Petroleum Engineer, Production Superintendent, Senior Geoscientist, Senior Geophysicist, Project Manager, Senior Application Geoscientist, Geo-Scientific Modeller, Geoscience Technical Consultant and Well-Site Geologist from major international petroleum companies such as Halliburton, United States Geological Survey (USGS), British Gas and British Petroleum (BP). Further, he worked in different regions in the world such as Gulf of Mexico, Texas, North Sea, Australia, Columbia, Poland, Ecuador and China.
Dr. Assad has PhD and Master degrees in Applied Geophysics & Geological Sciences and a Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston and the University of Kentucky, USA respectively. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Geophysical Union (AGU), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Geophysical Society of Houston (GSH), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Houston Geological Society (HGS). He has various scientific works published in major journals worldwide.
