Mr. John Hill


Mr. John Hill MSc, PE is a Senior Mechanical Mechanical Engineer with over 40 years of extensive experience within the Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Power Generation & Marine Engineering industries.  His expertise widely cover the areas of Oil & Gas Field Start-Up, Commissioning, Troubleshooting & Maintenance, including Gas Turbine Operations; Mechanical Alignment;  Machinery Bearing; Lubrication & Reliability; Safety Relief Valve Inspection, Maintenance, Operation, Troubleshooting & Repair; Oil & Gas Debottlenecking; Heat Recovery Steam Generator & Gas Coolers Start-Up, Commissioning, Troubleshooting & Maintenance.

With his lengthy career, he has worked with numerous large international companies such as sHELL, ExxonMobil, BP, CoNOCOPHILLIPS, PETRONAS, McDermott, Technip, qatargas, and  Nippon Steel.  Herein, he took on several challenging roles being the Offshore Commissioning Manager, Completion Manager, Lead Commissioning Manager, Offshore Mechanical Engineer, Lead Commissioning Engineer, Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Maintenance Engineer, carrying on tasks such as the planning and execution of the commissioning activities for offshore & onshore projects; spearheading support to start-up program in specialty disciplines to enable the effective execution of systems commissioning/acceptance tasks; identification/mitigation of activities critical to ensuring an orderly integration of producing facilities between the construction & operations phases; and the development of commissioning strategies and coordination of site personnel towards implementation of all contract deliverables; ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to the company down  stream customers (power stations).  Mr. Hill had successfully lead and pursued the fulfilment of dozens of multi-discipline projects such as the Upgrading of remote operated Oil & Gas platforms with new gas and diesel generators power supply with -MAR radio links for remote DCS control& operation; the start-up & commissioning of a new glycol dehydration system (GRU, Contactors, heat exchangers, vessels and pumps); Rosseti Heat Recovery Steam Generator with supplementary burners. 100 T/H capacity; new flash gas liquid ring compressor (Siemens) & New flash gas screw compressor (Howden); new crude oil export pumps & condensate export pumps up to 30,000 m3/d; David Brown & Sulzer Centrifugal Pumps with fixed and variable speed electric drives; new & upgraded remote operated Oil & Gas platforms with 11 KV power supply cable with integral fiber optic cable for remote DCS control & operation, and a lot more. Although John’s background is strongly on mechanical engineering, he likewise has had considerable exposure to instrumentation/process engineering involved in the projects he has handled.

Mr. Hill has a Masters and Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.  With his many contributions in the industry, he has become a well regarded member of the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (OPITCO-UK).
