Dr. Jim Dalton


Dr. Jim Dalton, PhD, BSc, is a Senior Metallurgist & Corrosion Engineer with over 40 years of extensive experience within the Power, Petrochemical, Refinery, Oil & Gas and Aircraft industries.  His expertise widely evolves in Corrosion, Metallurgy, Nanotechnology, Electrochemistry, Electron Microscopy, Metallurgical Failure Analysis & Prevention, Materials Selection, Super Alloys, Heat Treatments, NDT, Technology Transfer, Process Optimization, Facility Establishment, TQM and Research & Development (R&D).He is currently the Director of Pretoria Career Centre.

During his career life, Dr. Dalton has held prime positions and has worked for international companies such as the Technical Director of Boart Longyear, Project Manager of TOSA Seamless Tubes, Chief Scientist of Council for Mineral Technology (MINTEK), Senior Principal Scientist of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Development & Testing Manager of NASCHEM, Chief Scientist of Atomic Energy Board and the Senior Scientific Officer of United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).

Dr. Dalton has PhD and Bachelor degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (UK). Further, he has presented and officiated numerous local and international conferences and exhibitions to various Scientific Institutions, Universities and industrial companies throughout the world. Moreover, he is a council member of the Institute of Foundrymen and a Fellow and an active member of Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Association. Additionally, he is a Certified Trainer of “Dr. Edward De Bono’s: Lateral Thinking” courses.
