Mr. Alan Bishop


Mr. Alan is an International Expert in Pipeline, Piping, Metallurgy, Welding & Pressure Vessels with over 40 years of industrial experience. His expertise includes ASME Post Construction Code, Inspection Planning, Fitness-for-Service (FFS), Damage Mechanisms & Repair of Vessels, Tanks, Piping & Process Equipment; the Design, Fabrication, Manufacturing, Project Management, Installation, Materials Selection, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Inspection, Repair and Maintenance of Pipelines, Process Piping, Pressure Vessels, Gas Process Trains and Storage Tanks. He is currently the State Technology Manager of Welding Technology Institute in Australia, an institution providing technical and consultancy services to all industries in Australia. His major focus is on Pressure Vessel Fabrication particularly for the Petrochemical Industry, Chemical Plants, Alumina Refineries, Nickel/Cobalt Refineries and Power Generation. During this time, he worked with all of the major World Standards on Pressure Vessels including American Systems, British Standards, German Standards, EN and ISO and he sat on numerous Standard Committees in Australia.

Being a Certified Auditor of ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and EN 729, Mr. Bishop conducted majority of ISO 3834 certification audits on fabricators in Australia. Previously, he has held numerous senior management positions such as a Quality Assurance Manager, Materials Inspection Corrosion and Welding Engineer and Senior Research Metallurgist within large international corporations such as Mobil Refinery, Shell Refinery and a large Boiler Manufacturing company. Prior to this, he successfully ran his own Metallurgical Consulting Company for 6 years.

Mr. Bishop has Bachelor degree in Metallurgy from the University of Wolverhampton in the UK and a Registered Chartered Engineer (CEng) under the Engineering Council in UK. Further, he is a highly regarded International Welding Engineer (IWE) under the International Institute of Welding and an active member of Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (MIMMM) in UK. Moreover, he has presented numerous papers at International Conferences in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, England, Africa and Malaysia and had those published in the International Journal of Pressure Vessels & Piping.
