Instructor's Summary

Professor Edgar Paski

Professor Edgar Paski, PhD, BSc, is a Senior Analytical Chemist with over 40 years of extensive experience in Analytical Laboratory Management.  He is an authority in Quality Management Systems (ISO 17025 & 9000), Statistical Analysis of Laboratory Data, Chemical Laboratory Management, Laboratory Auditing, Laboratory Safety & Heath, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Uncertainty Measurement, Process Analyzers and Sampling and Sample Preparation. He is currently a Consultant to various industries and governments wherein he provides consultancy services in Laboratory Automation, Quality Assurance,  accreditation to ISO 17025, analytical method & instrumentation development, LIMS, Flow Injection (FIA), Sequential Injection (SIA), SOPs, ion chromatography and various kinds of spectrometry.  Concurrently, he is a Professor in British Columbia Institute of Technology in Canada lecturing on Analytical, Chemical Laboratory and Laboratory Quality Management courses

During his career life, Professor Paski was the Quality Manager of Analytical Service Laboratories (ASL) Canada wherein he was responsible for the management of the laboratory quality assurance program and the development & implementation of quality management plan for the laboratory.  It is when he created a model for quantifying quality in the analytical laboratory.  He was also the R&D Director of Bondar-Clegg & Company where he directed researches into development of methodologies for rapid, high volume and low cost analysis of geological materials.  He has created an automated FIA-AA analyzer for trace Hg in geological materials which improved analytical precision and significantly increased productivity tenfold.  He has also developed software employing a unique optical alignment stabilization method to automate an ICP-OE spectrometer which brought about significant detection limit improvements and productivity gains were realized.  Prior to these, Dr. Paski was the Laboratory Manager of Riocanex Canada and even earlier, he was a Senior Chemist in Environment Canada.  He was also a Research Associate in the University of British Columbia where he lectured instrumental analysis laboratory and created a time-wavelength resolved luminescence spectrometer.

Professor Paski has PhD in Analytical Chemistry and Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia and University of Waterloo respectively both in Canada.  He is an Auditor for ISO 17025 and ISO 9000.   He is an active member of the American Chemical Society, American Society for Quality Control, Association of Official Analytical Chemists, Association of Exploration Geochemists, Society for Applied Spectroscopy and the Spectroscopy Society of Canada.
