Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes practical sessions and exercises. Theory learnt will be applied using our state-of-the-art simulators. This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of Field Instruments such as Ultrasonic, Magnetic and Analyzers. It covers the role and importance of field instruments in RO desalination; the key components of RO desalination plant covering inlet, pretreatment, high-pressure pump, membranes and posttreatment; the basic principles and applications of ultrasonic, magnetic and analyzer; the safety protocols for handling and operating field instruments in a desalination plant; the functionality, types and applications of ultrasonic instruments in RO plants; and the working principle, benefits and usage in monitoring inflow/outflow rates. During this interactive course, participants will learn the ultrasonic level sensors in monitoring water levels in storage tanks and sumps; calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting ultrasonic instrument; the magnetic instruments and electromagnetic flow meters; maintaining, calibrating and troubleshooting magnetic instruments; the process analyzers, pH, conductivity and TDS analyzers and turbidity and chlorine analyzers; calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting analyzers and field instruments in RO desalination; integrating instruments with control systems and optimizing instrument performance; and the future trends in field instrumentation in RO desalination.
